From Visual Arts to Design
From Portraying Issues to Solving Them

My journey into User Experience Design is an extension of my art practice. For nearly two decades I portryed social and cultural issues through visual art, community-led projects, and storytelling. Over time, I realised I wanted to go beyond raising questions and actively work on solutions.

Through years of working in art administration, curation, mentorship, and entrepreneurship, I developed a multidisciplinary approach that continues to shape how I understand people and design meaningful experiences. My work with communities taught me the value of empathy, inclusion, and listening closely, skills that align deeply with UX.

The pandemic pushed me to formally explore this path. I pursued an MSc in UX Design from the University of Brighton, UK after completing a UX and HCI course at IIT Guwahati, India. Today, supported by the UK’s Global Talent Visa, I’m excited to bring together creativity, research, and innovation to design thoughtful, intuitive, and impactful solutions.

Field Research
With the Rabari Pastoralist Community

This project was an extension of my visual art practice, which focused on highlighting social issues through storytelling. At the time, I was not familiar with UX or design thinking, but by living with the Rabari pastoralist community in Gujarat, India, I began to observe how people adapt, make decisions, and navigate constraints. The field research documented their traditions, such as home remedies for animals, marriage customs, and seasonal migration. Looking back, I now see this experience as an early, intuitive step towards understanding human-centred design.

A Digital Storytelling App

SoulStories
A Platform for Life Narratives

During my 20-year art career, I encountered numerous talented individuals, from artisans and tribal artists in India to inspiring figures like a 92-year-old British veteran. These experiences, combined with interactions with my teachers, friends, and others, ignited a desire to create a platform where anyone could document their life journey or significant moments and share them with loved ones, or store them for future generations as learnings or messages.

Noticing the common challenge of structuring stories effectively, I realised the need for such a platform. Moving to the UK and meeting the veteran further solidified this belief. Despite my fine art background, I aimed to build a digital product that leverages Web3 and blockchain technology for privacy and security. This platform, more than a digital diary, would connect generations through storytelling.

SoulStories is an innovative digital storytelling toolkit designed to revolutionise how individuals and professionals create and share narratives. By blending Artificial Intelligence with the security and transparency of Web3 and blockchain, SoulStories offers a user-friendly platform for crafting engaging and immersive stories.

Enhancing Pet Ownership & Support
In My Grandfather's Veterinary Footsteps

From a young age, inspired by my grandfather, a district veterinary doctor, I was immersed in animal care. His tales and photos of treating animals in remote areas sparked my fascination. Our home was filled with a variety of pets, from dogs to chickens, deepening my affinity for animals and teaching me skills like snake catching and animal rescue.

My rescue efforts include saving parrots, snakes, ducks, squirrels, mynas, dogs, and cats. My art, particularly on the theme “Gruesome Reality of Humans,” revealed loneliness as a major societal issue, highlighting the growing trend of multiple pet ownership for companionship and emotional support.

This trend is driven by increased awareness of animal welfare, media influence, and the recognised health benefits of pets. The COVID-19 pandemic, especially in the UK, accelerated this trend, making pet ownership more feasible and addressing isolation. This has led to a significant rise in global pet ownership, with many households embracing multiple pets.

Sootra

Handcrafted Knitwear by Indian Mothers
Logo Design

Sootra is a heartfelt collaboration between my wife and me, inspired by her mother, Mrs Lalita Kirdat. What began as her dream to knit with love and meaning grew into a shared vision. Through Sootra, we hope to support Indian mothers who enjoy handwoven knitwear. Rooted in warmth, tradition and care, this project celebrates the quiet strength of women and the thread that connects us all.

Landing Page Design

Micro Interactions
Inspirted by Joseph Klibansky's works

In my previous projects, along with my UX process, I’ve always attached UI screens, but this time, I realised I could push the same tools further to design a Landing Page with Motion Integration. For me, tools are just a medium, before, it was oil and acrylics, and now, I have a new dimension where I can add motion and integrate AR for an interactive experience.

Inspired by Joseph Klibansky’s astronaut sculptures, I created this Landing Page Design to refine my skills in Figma, Procreate, and Midjourney. Using Auto Layout, Components, Variables, and Effects, I combined structured design with hand-drawn elements for depth and storytelling.

I also focused on titling frames, creating font and colour libraries, and ensuring consistency, scalability, and accessibility across screens. My fine arts background helps me craft colour schemes, typography, and compositions with precision, making the designs both visually compelling and functional.
This project reimagines static posters as immersive, interactive landing pages, blending art, technology, and motion to enhance digital storytelling and user engagement.
